Welcome to Family Prospects

I received a call from Juan, my friend of almost thirty years — father of my two godchildren, twins, born through surrogacy in the USA.

"I've been thinking… and we have to do something."

Whenever he says those words, I know immediately that he already has a plan — and that he will not stop until he makes it happen.

"So tell me. What are you thinking?"

"You know how there are so many intended parents out there trying to figure out how to navigate the whole process of having a baby through assisted reproduction abroad. They get information from clinics, agencies, and attorneys — and that is all useful, of course. But for many people, it simply is not enough. They need someone to help them through every single step. Someone who is not just a clinic or an agency — someone who is truly on their side.

Think about it. Not everyone speaks the language. Not everyone has travelled internationally before. Some do not know where to stay, how to organise the logistics, or even what to buy when a newborn arrives in a foreign country. And then there is the information overload — programmes, options, costs, legal requirements — it is overwhelming even for someone who knows what they are doing.

I know, because I lived it. I went through all of that myself. I spent months trying to piece together information from discussion forums, phone calls, and conversations with anyone who would talk to me. And I was lucky — I spoke English, I had worked in the airline industry and travelled to the USA for years, so I knew how to organise flights and accommodation and find what I needed. But that is not something that comes easily to everyone."

I could only agree. I remembered those days well — the hours he devoted to researching every available option, the endless conversations trying to weigh up the choices, the moments of doubt alongside the moments of hope.

"So what is the plan?" I asked. I already knew he had one.

"I have spent the last several years working inside the fertility world — I know how it works from every angle. And I have seen first-hand how much of a difference it makes when intended parents have a knowledgeable, trusted person in their corner. Not someone selling them a programme. Someone genuinely looking out for them.

I want to build that. A consultancy. A concierge service. Something that meets people wherever they are in the world and helps them find the right path — whether that is IVF abroad, egg or sperm donation, or something more complex. A team that speaks their language — literally — and stays by their side from the very first question to the moment they arrive home with their child."

And so Family Prospects was born.

What started as a conversation between two old friends has grown into something we are genuinely proud of — an international consultancy and concierge service built not around programmes or protocols, but around people. Around the families who trust us with one of the most important journeys of their lives.
