About Family Prospects
What exactly does Family Prospects do?
Family Prospects is an independent fertility consultancy and concierge service. We guide intended parents through the process of accessing international fertility treatment — including IVF, egg and sperm donation, and third-party assisted reproduction — by connecting them with a carefully vetted global network of clinics, agencies, reproductive attorneys, couriers, and insurers. We coordinate the entire journey on your behalf, from the first consultation to your safe return home.
Is Family Prospects a clinic or an agency?
Neither. Family Prospects is an independent consultancy — we are not affiliated with any clinic, agency, or provider. We do not perform medical procedures, provide legal advice, or sell insurance. Our role is to act as your personal advisor and coordinator, working exclusively in your interest to connect you with the right professionals for your specific situation.
How do you make money if the consultation is free?
The initial consultation is genuinely free — no strings attached. If you decide to engage our concierge service after the consultation, a service fee applies. That fee covers the full scope of our coordination and support throughout your journey and is set out clearly in our written agreement before you commit. There is no obligation to proceed with any paid service following the consultation.
What languages do you work in?
We provide full support in English, Spanish, French, and Italian. All consultations, written communications, and ongoing support throughout your journey are available in any of these four languages — whichever you are most comfortable with.
Getting started
How do I know which fertility pathway is right for me?
That is exactly what the free consultation is for. We will listen to your personal circumstances — your medical history, family structure, home country, and what you have already explored — and help you understand which pathways may be suitable for your situation. There is no one-size-fits-all answer, and we will never push you towards a particular option without first understanding your needs fully.
I have already started my journey with another provider — can you still help?
Yes. We offer consultations and support to intended parents at any stage of their journey — not just those starting from scratch. If you are mid-journey and feel you need independent advice, a second opinion, or help navigating a specific challenge, book a consultation and we will do our best to assist.
Do I need to be based in Europe, Latin America, or Australia to use your services?
No. While our primary markets are Europe, Latin America, and Australia, we work with intended parents from anywhere in the world. If you are based outside these regions and would like to explore your options, you are very welcome to book a consultation.
IVF & clinical services
Which countries do you work with for IVF treatment?
Our IVF clinic network currently covers the USA, Spain, Czech Republic, Portugal, United Kingdom, Mexico, Colombia, and Canada. For ancillary services such as patient screening, fertility assessments, and diagnostic testing, we can also refer you to providers closer to your home country — wherever in the world you are based.
Can you help with IVF using my own eggs and sperm, or only with donors?
Both. We work with intended parents pursuing IVF with their own gametes as well as those who require donor eggs, donor sperm, or both. We can also assist with reciprocal IVF for same-sex female couples. The right approach will depend on your medical situation, which we will discuss during your consultation.
Third-party assisted reproduction
Is third-party assisted reproduction legal in my country?
The legal status of third-party assisted reproduction varies significantly from country to country — and in some cases from region to region within the same country. We are not able to provide legal advice on this matter. What we can do is refer you to experienced reproductive attorneys in your home country who can advise you on your specific legal situation before you proceed. This step is essential and should always be taken before beginning any process abroad.
How long does the process typically take?
Timelines vary considerably depending on the pathway, destination, and individual circumstances. An IVF cycle abroad can typically be completed within a few months once the preparation phase is complete. A full third-party assisted reproduction journey — from first consultation to returning home with your baby — typically takes 18 months on average, though this can vary significantly. We will give you realistic timeline expectations for your specific situation during your consultation.
Costs
How much does the concierge service cost?
Our concierge service fee ranges from $6,000 to $9,000 USD, depending on the complexity of your journey and the scope of services required. The fee is structured across key milestones rather than paid in full upfront — so you are not carrying the entire cost from the beginning. The concierge fee covers our coordination, support and advisory services only — clinic fees, agency fees, legal fees, travel, and other third-party costs are separate and will be outlined clearly in your personalised budget overview.
Are there any hidden costs I should be aware of?
Transparency on costs is something we take seriously. During your consultation, we will provide a realistic preliminary budget overview covering all the cost categories relevant to your journey — including clinic fees, agency fees, legal fees, travel, accommodation, insurance, courier services, and any other applicable expenses. We will also flag where costs can vary and where contingency budgets are advisable. There are no hidden fees on our end — everything is set out clearly in our written agreement before you commit.
Legal & practical
Do I need a lawyer for my fertility journey?
In most cases, yes — and in many cases it is legally required. Any journey involving donor eggs, donor sperm, or third-party assisted reproduction will involve legal agreements that need to be drafted and reviewed by qualified reproductive attorneys. Even for straightforward IVF abroad, understanding your parental rights and ensuring your child's birth can be legally registered in your home country requires legal guidance. We refer you to experienced reproductive attorneys in both your home country and your destination — and coordinate between you and them throughout the process.
Can you help me transport my frozen sperm, eggs or embryos to another country?
Yes. We refer clients to specialist international hand-carry courier services that handle the cryogenic transport of sperm, eggs, and embryos — and we coordinate the entire logistics process between your sending clinic, the courier, and your receiving clinic. International transport of biological material is subject to strict regulations that vary by country, and we will help you understand what is required for your specific route.
What happens if something goes wrong?
We cannot guarantee outcomes — no one in this field honestly can. What we can guarantee is that you will never face a problem alone. All concierge clients have access to an emergency telephone number throughout their journey, and we are personally available to help navigate any unexpected situation that arises — whether medical, legal, logistical, or emotional. Our job is to be by your side when it matters most, not just when things are going smoothly.
